The Quilts

While most of the work done to the farmhouse was done by me, there are significant contributions from Denise, too. She sewed the curtains. But that isn’t the big thing.

The big things are the quilts.

Denise is a professional knitter, teaching people around the country intricate knitting techniques. When she isn’t knitting though, she quilts.

There are currently three quilts in the farmhouse. Two are on the bed, because life doesn’t get much better than sleeping under heavy quilts in a house warmed by a woodstove. Another is in the study.

She uses patterns, and mainly knows how many and what size pieces to cut, but there is always room for some freestyle expression, too, as can be seen in panels depicting howling coyotes on one (stay here at the right time of year and you’ll get it), to the colorful sugar skulls on another.

They are completely unique.
